Plan Your Trip
We’re so excited to welcome you to Natchez, Mississippi this March for the Living History Natchez Tour of Homes. Here’s everything you need to make the most of your visit.
When you arrive, you’ll pick up your tour wristband at our beautifully restored Train Depot, located at 200 North Broadway perched on the bluff overlooking the Mississippi River. Your name is already on our master list for all tours and events you’ve purchased. To help us move guests through quickly, we recommend having your order number handy. You’ll find it in your email receipt. Your wristband will be required for entry into all tour homes.
Next, take a moment to familiarize yourself with the locations of the homes and events. You can use the interactive map on our website or the printed map included in your gift bag. Natchez is rich with historic homes and venues, but very easy to navigate. Most tour homes and events are within a mile or two of each other. Tour times are Thursday through Saturday, 9, 10, 11 and 1, 2 and 3 each day. Tours should last 45 minutes or less so you should be able to see 6 houses per day. Four per day is a more comfortable but still busy itinerary. Most will review and prioritize the houses they want to see most and start there.
There are just a couple of helpful tips to make your experience even smoother. The Briars is very close to downtown, but GPS directions can sometimes be a bit confusing. The entrance is through The Vue Hotel parking lot off John R. Junkin Drive. Simply continue through the shared parking areas until you see the gates to The Briars. We promise, it’s well worth the effort.
Also, if you’re planning to visit Propinquity and Sweet Auburn, we recommend seeing them together. They’re located about 15 minutes north of Natchez in the town of Washington, so it’s easiest to tour them in the same morning or afternoon. Again, absolutely worth the short drive.
If you’ve purchased tickets for one of our special events, your name will be on the guest list at the door. No physical ticket is required. All event locations are centrally located and clearly marked on both maps.
We hope you have an unforgettable time exploring these remarkable homes and experiencing the charm and hospitality that make Natchez so special. If you are looking for additional dining, shopping, or lodging recommendations during your stay, we encourage you to connect with Visit Natchez for helpful travel planning resources.
